The museum has long been considered a passive space—a container of history, but not history that we engage with viscerally. Today one of the toughest and most sensitive issues is that related to the cultural heritage which, often perceived as static and distant from every day life, further separates young people from what belongs them more.
In the re-imagining of Museum Nasional Indonesia, that challenge was solved by an ‘all-telling in every medium’ approach—a cross-medium storytelling technique that combines authentic objects, digital content, physical architecture and immersive technology to form one cohesive narrative experience. In this cultural grand project initiated by Cukup Cakap ID, Lumitra had a chance to participate as the creative production partner, working on specific projection mapping scenes for Museum Nasional building facade.
Architectural Projection Mapping Content Our task was to interpret storytelling concepts from narrative into vivid visual sequences that serve the rich history of the building as an immersive canvas for new show content. Lumitra's projection mapping scenes were created to be more than just eye candy. It is this passage of layered visuals that contributes to emotion, rhythm and progression in the overall work.
This project is indicative of the manner in which Lumitra works: collaborating with story teams, curators and technical partners to ensure visual content supports an overarching storytelling vision. The above images are frames from selected scenes that Lumitra created as part of a larger projection mapping installation for Museum Nasional Indonesia.
